Jack Hanley Gallery, San Francisco
November 12 – December 10, 2005
Opening Reception, Saturday, November 12
Karen Barbour’s works on paper have a dreamlike quality – rendered in watercolor, and ink they evoke a darkly cinematic landscape populated by abstract forms that interact in complex relationships. Non sequiturs and bizarre narratives become the status quo in her richly layered drawings that invoke Surrealist imagery. Based in Point Reyes, and well know for her children’s books and illustrations, this will be Karen Barbour’s second solo show at the Jack Hanley Gallery
